Mariano
French actors are rehearsing for a Spanish play. Between scenes, they talk about their relation with the theatre, with character they are playing, with the author, with theatrical truth and illusion…A family in camera: and women settling scores. Each Character lives out his or her own particular spleen: the rapport with passing time, with seduction, with talent and uncertainty. A stunningly truthful and bitterly lucid encounter. Ambitious, fortilying, stimulating…referring explicitly to Chekhov and implicitly to Diderot, this Spanish Play brings together all the themes Yasmina Reza handles so well: The micro-tragedies of daily existence, two individuals that make up a couple, the family, passing time, and grating humour just in case we feel sorry for ourselves.
