In line with its artistic mission, the SNT Drama Ljubljana actively pursues international engagement and the promotion of its creative work abroad. Within the scope of financial and scheduling possibilities, we successfully maintain international partnerships, take part in prestigious theatre festivals, and host outstanding productions from our partner theatres.
Our production of Cyrano de Bergerac was well received at the Zagreb Youth Theatre (Zagrebačko kazalište mladih, ZeKaeM) and at the Sarajevo National Theatre (Narodno pozorište Sarajevo). At the start of the upcoming season, we are scheduled to perform it at the Hungarian National Theatre in Miskolc (Miskolci Nemzeti Színház) and the Théâtre National du Luxembourg. In addition, we are in advanced discussions about a possible tour to the Beijing People’s Art Theatre and the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad (Srpsko narodno pozorište Novi Sad).
We have also formalized partnerships with the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb (Hrvatsko narodno kazalište Zagreb) and the Yugoslav Drama Theatre in Belgrade (Jugoslavensko dramsko pozorište).
In the 2024/25 season, the SNT Drama has continued to strengthen existing exchange programmes with regional theatres while establishing promising new collaborations. Our audiences in Ljubljana had the opportunity to see guest performances by the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava (Slovenské národné divadlo), the Hungarian National Theatre in Miskolc (Miskolci Nemzeti Színház), and the National Theatre Sarajevo (Narodno pozorište Sarajevo). Next season, we will also be hosting a production from the Théâtre National du Luxembourg.
SNT Drama is also actively involved in the UTE network (Union des Théâtres de l’Europe, or Union of European Theatres), having joined this influential alliance of twelve leading European theatre companies in 2023. Its members include some of the most respected institutions in Europe, such as the Piccolo Teatro di Milano, Théâtre National du Luxembourg, Teatro Nacional São João in Porto, and the Narodowy Stary Teatr in Krakow. Founded in 1990 by Giorgio Strehler and Jack Lang, the UTE was established as the first network of its kind to foster the exchange of performances, ideas, and creative talent, and to promote European theatre on a broader scale.
