Pia Zemljič studied English language and literature at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, and stage acting at the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television, University of Ljubljana in the class of Professors Jožica Avbelj and Boris Cavazza. She drew attention to herself with her two roles in the graduation production of Under Milk Wood and received the Prešeren Award for Students. Following her graduation, she joined the Drama SNT Maribor resident ensemble and developed her burgeoning acting skills in productions of versatile directing poetics. In addition to outstanding acting bravura, Zemljič is also musically gifted. In 2008 she decided to become a freelancer and worked in various Slovenian theatres. Also, she appeared in many short and feature films as well as in television series which brought her wider recognition. In 2010 she joined the Celje City Theatre resident ensemble where she worked until 2016, when she became a member of the Drama Ljubljana ensemble. She is a leading lady. In addition to her work in theatre, she hosts an educational TV programme of the Slovenian national television, Firbcologi. She is often involved in dubbing cartoons and regularly participates in the arts programme of the national radio. Zemljič is a recipient of many awards, including the Prešeren Fund Award, two Borštnik Awards and several film awards.
