Vanja Plut studied stage acting in the class of Professors Mile Korun and Matjaž Zupančič, and graduated with Shakespeare’s Hamlet, namely »Gertrude’s diary notes« From Scarlet to Purple. She appears in films, national television programmes and in independent theatre companies, but mostly at the SNT Drama Ljubljana where she has been a member of the resident ensemble since 2006. She has received the Borštnik Award for Young Actress for the role of Irene in Pains of Youth by Bruckner, directed by Mateja Koležnik. Her roles of classical and contemporary drama repertoires are characterised by a distinct sensitivity for complex and damaged characters. Her performances are often heart-breaking and memorable portraits of social margins in diverse genres.
