To mark the publication of his new book The Cup of Immortality, a January edition of Literary Journey with Beletrina series will present Alojz Ihan. Welcome to join us on Tuesday, 17 January at 17.00 at the Drama Café.
Alojz Ihan is a medical doctor, a specialist in clinical microbiology, and professor of microbiology and immunology at the Medical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana. In addition to his professional, educational and scientific research in medicine, he is a true man of letters: a poet and fiction writer, and above all an perspicacious essayist and author of journalistic articles and columns. His new book of essays, The Cup of Immortality (published under the Beletrina Koda imprint, 2016) deals with issues of immortality, or more precisely, the human desire to use new freezing technologies to affect the structure of human life and death. This framework sets up a whole new horizon of expectation and the human perception of time, which has its economic, symbolic, legal and ethical implications. An extremely interesting and topical read.
The author will discuss his new book and its main theme in conversation with versatile author Manca Košir. Excerpts from the book will be read by Zvone Hribar, SNT Drama Ljubljana resident ensemble member.
Tickets (2€) for the talk are available at the Drama Box Office. No admission fee for members of Drama Club, Teen Club and Hamlet Club. Book early to avoid disappointment.
