Intimacy

Staged reading of plays by selected authors participating in the Teen Intimacy writing competition

Director

Luka Marcen

Opening night

18 April 2019
Small Stage

Duration:
50 minutes

Seven young playwrights took part in the current edition of Young Drama writing competition. Four of them were invited to join playwriting workshops supervised by the director Luka Marcen, the dramaturg Eva Kraševec, the language consultant Tatjana Stanič and the theatre pedagogue Špela Šinigoj. The Teen writing competition was organized by the Young Drama and the Hamlet Club. Our aim was to look for short-length playscripts, based on the authors’ own experience, themed »intimacy«. The entries we received touched on a variety of topics, ranging from social networks and related hesitations about what is real and what is not, to the intimate experiences of a modern individual. Katka Franja Slosar, Aljaž Primožič, Lara Gobec and Nina Jelovšek engaged in an in-depth exploration of playwriting rules and the use of language in the theatre. As a follow-up to a thorough revision of the drafts, the director Luka Marcen and a creative team of the Drama, produced a staged reading to elucidate the way the young reflect on their own intimacy and the intimacy of their fellow men and women.
