Silva Čušin studied stage acting at the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television, University of Ljubljana, initially in the class of France Jamnik and Boris Juh, and then graduated in the class of Professors Zvone Šedlbauer and Kristijan Muck. Immediately after her senior year she appeared in several Slovenian theatres (SNT Drama Ljubljana, Glej Experimental Theatre, Ljubljana City Theatre) as well as in films. Since 1985, she has been a member of the SNT Drama Ljubljana resident ensemble. In her prolific acting career she has played more than a hundred characters from world and Slovenian drama. Over the years, she has developed a truly authentic acting expression and crafted many superb roles. She earned her fame as a modern-day actress who invariably enthrals the audience with her subtlety and subdued agitation. A leading lady of the ensemble, Čušin has won many awards, including the Prešeren Fund Award, two Borštnik Awards and the Borštnik Ring Award for Lifetime Achievement in Acting. In addition to stage, she has appeared prominently in Slovenian film, television and radio drama projects. Apart from the awards, she is particularly grateful for diverse drama repertoire roles she has been fortunate to play.
