Gabriela Babnik is a versatile author, literary critic and translator. Her latest novel Intimately brings the reader on a journey between Paris, Ljubljana and New York tracking three different plotlines: a love story of Janina and Fadul, a former journalist who had to flee Chad and move to Europe because of his politically committed articles; a relationship between young Amina and much older Tibor ̶ a couple coming to terms with the death of their daughter Izabela, and a story of Deana, a visual artist who uses her photography to enter the intimacy of her subjects. One of them is a man of mystery, Tay. It is through him that we learn how the stories on identity, the otherness and the (im)possibility of choice are actually intertwined. The novel Intimately was partly written in reaction to institutional and universal racism. Excerpts from the novel will be presented by actor Igor Samobor.
