Whites are Washed at 90 is a moving, funny and inspiring novel describing a life story of a narrator who grew up in the 1970s and 1980s. Her childhood word consists of her parents, her brother Rok, her grandmother Dada, her aunts and uncles, as well as Benko cocoa and Albert cookies, radio shipping news, Gavrilović meat products and live broadcasts of the winter Olympic Games in Sarajevo. Above all, the autobiographical novel tells a story of growing up, dealing with loss and disease, coming to terms with one’s fears and all that we are reluctant to see until we are unavoidably faced with it.
We invite you to join us on Wednesday, 24 October at 18.00 in Drama Cafe to meet the author Barbara Žefran, in conversation with Ana Schnabl discussing the author’s debut novel Whites are Washed at 90.
