Veno Taufer entered Slovenian poetry scene in 1956 by publications in literary magazines. His first collection of poetry, Stars of Lead (1958) catapulted him among the most notable representatives of Slovenian modernism. By the same token, Taufer ranks as one of the predecessors of Slovenian avant-garde of the 1960s. In 1996 he was honoured by the most prestigious national award for literature, the Prešeren Award.
Telemachus’s Commentaries, prefaced by Peter Kolšek, bring together Veno Taufer’s poems published in his collections from 1958 and 2006. What is more, it includes a selection of his auto-poetic writings from different periods offering the readers a precious insight into Taufer’s literary development.
Meet Veno Taufer in the Drama back garden in discussion with Peter Kolšek, the author of the preface. Taufer’s poems will be read by Branko Šturbej, SNT Drama Ljubljana ensemble member.
Join us on Thursday, 15 September, at 18.00 in the Drama back garden. Admission free.
