Mother and daughter prepare to leave for the seaside to spend their holidays in the family villa, where for many years they have been going exactly on the same day and some hour. While packing, which has been exactly the same for years; too, mother vexes her silent daughter incessantly and simultaneously, reveals her own story – the story of the wife, mother, and window of the wealthy industrialist. At the same time she, in a very self-confident manner, criticises the premiere which they attended the previous evening. The opening of a new play has ceased to be an artistic event for her years ago; moreover, she does not even see it as a social event anymore. It is primarily the cause for merciless, cynical, but also highly expend and witty comments on the performance, dramatic literature and theatre in general, as well as the comments on the people working in theatre, artists and particularly the theatregoers. Therefore, run for your lives! seems to be quite appropriate title for this play, since its author, a young avant-garde playwright has been invited, as we learn, to join the two ladies at the seaside resort for “a day or two”…
