Moto is a new novel by Filipčič and his sixth published by Beletrina. The title is also a nickname of its main protagonist, the driving force of the narrative. Moto is an abstract painter who, in his own words, also speaks abstractly and likes to ridicule naive explainers of art. But as one often observes, flippancy is just a colourful cover for serious life issues brought on by changing times and aging. The same goes for Filipčič’s latest novel Moto in which the author talks openly about dealing with a serious illness and learning new lessons of life. This is his most convincing work after Problems, published about ten years ago.
