A collage of scenes by shortlisted authors of the Teen writing competition

Director

Luka Marcen

Opening night

13 June 2018
Small Stage

Duration:
50 minutes

As many as 25 young playwrights took part in this year’s edition of Young Drama and Teen Club writing competition. Seven of them were invited to participate in playwriting workshops supervised by the dramaturg Eva Kraševec, the language consultant Tatjana Stanič and the theatre pedagogue Špela Šinigoj. The competition themed »Now I know what it means to be different « elicited a variety of responses, with some authors highlighting the challenging aspects of being different and the related forms of peer violence, while the others underlined the positive sides and the related desire for originality, freed from any rules and norms. In the course of the workshops, Jakob Adamič Šeme, Tia Gabriel, Aljaž Gornik, Katka Franja Slosar, Maruša Škrjanc Lapajne, Bor Zorič and Nika Zorič engaged in an in-depth exploration of playwriting rules and the use of language in the theatre. As a follow-up to a thorough revision of the drafts, the director Luka Marcen and the dramaturg Eva Kraševec put together an interesting collage of scenes dealing with the notion of being different and with the complexity of growing-up in today’s increasingly complicated world.
