Feeling Anxious and Alarmed, Matjaž Zupančič at the Small Stage venue

The forthcoming opening of Zupančič’s new play, This Game is Over, will also be its world premiere. This raises the question of placing it in a broader historical context which will be addressed by Gašper Troha, Director of the Slovenian Theatre Institute. In his talk, he will analyse the productions of Zupančič’s plays that have been staged at the Small Stage venue: Devil Busters (11 December 1991), Vladimir (11 March 1999), A New Race (25 September 2020) and This Game is Over (12 April 2024). How do the characters in these plays that share several thematic parallels cope and get by? What drives them? How much comedy is there in these texts and how much tragedy? Troha will try to answer these questions by delving into theatre history and examine critical writings, photographs, and recordings of performances.

Thursday, 28 March 2024, at 18.00 in the Drama Café. Free tickets are available at the Drama Box Office.
