Drama Acoustics is proud to present a master of piano, Bojan Gorišek performing etudes for solo piano by American composer Philip Glass. From 1991 to 2012, Glass composed twenty etudes and subsequently divided them according to composition and finally published them in two volumes. According to Glass, the etudes comprise a wide range of musical and technical ideas. The composer had been often teased by his friends that his piano compositions which he was keen to play were wonderful, but his performance skills were rather inadequate. Thus, at the age of 65, he decided to improve his technique by practicing daily. As he was rather reluctant to play classical composers, Bach, Chopin, etc., he composed the etudes himself. Eventually, they were published in two volumes in 2015, and Glass’ piano playing was significantly improved.
