Petra Govc studied stage acting at the Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television, University of Ljubljana in the class of Professors Mile Korun and Matjaž Zupančič. After her studies, before joining the SNT Drama Ljubljana, she appeared in independent theatre projects in Ljubljana and elsewhere in Slovenia. Having worked with distinctly original directors, Igor Štromajer, Emil Hrvatin, Damir Zlatar Frey, Bojan Jablanovec (Via Negativa), Barbara Novaković Kolenc and Sebastijan Horvat, she got acquainted with extremely diverse theatre aesthetics. In the last decade she has cooperated on a regular basis with the Anton Podbevšek Theatre, Novo mesto. She maintained contact with classical drama theatre at the Prešeren Theatre Kranj, the Slovene Permanent Theatre, Trieste, Italy, and the SNT Drama Ljubljana. She joined the latter in 2000 and has so far created around forty roles. She is the recipient of two Borštnik Awards. In addition to her work in theatre, she has recently been involved in authoring original stage productions. In 2016, she put on stage Suzanna Andler by Marguerite Duras at the Pocket Theatre, and in 2018 La Musica II by the same author in Cankarjev dom.
