Maruša Majer studied stage acting after having completed her studies of Comparative Literature. First as student and later as a free-lance actor, she collaborated with many independent theatre companies and appeared in most Slovenian theatres. During this period, she created an astonishing number of stage roles. She is a recipient of numerous prizes for her committed and outstanding performances, including the Prešeren Fund Award, the Borštnik Award and the European Shooting Stars Award at the Berlin International Film Festival. Her stage presence is remarkable due to her unrivalled ability of focus and a solid stance that puts her in line as a (co)author. Her artistic audacity and courage are complemented by a brilliant charisma that delivers a particular freshness and originality to her stage expression. She is a leading lady of the ensemble. In addition to her work in theatre, she is also involved in television shows and films – particularly noteworthy is her role of Mara in Ivan, a feature film directed by Janez Burger. She has been a member of the SNT Drama Ljubljana resident ensemble since 2018.
