Supply and Demand brings together the family of the (formerly) third-ranking Politburo member in the Slovene Communist Party and the family of independent Slovenia’s right-wing Health Minister. In addition to this startling combination, the play features a ChristianSocialist trade union leader, an immensely successful global investor, a progressive Catholic choir and a spiritually and physically gifted receptionist at a private clinic. A lot is at stake here: young love, ministerial rank, money, and, last but not least, a mysterious and lethal disease. Simply put, this play is about life and death. And about people who we don’t usually see together. All this provides plenty of opportunities for unexpected stylistic twists and lets the plot get away with a light touch in spite of its potentially heavy topics.

Boštjan Tadel graduated in Philosophy and Comparative Literature from the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. He has worked in advertising and has been editor of several magazines. He started his playwriting career in 1992 as a co-writer of the first season of the legendary Slovene radio series The Tivoli Clinic, Ltd.(this first season was followed by two more, and a widely successful theatre performance was based on the show).Tadel has written several radio and theatre plays including Anywhere Out of This World, which was first produced at SNG Drama Ljubljana in 2005.With humour,Tadel’s plays reflect on a modern reality that is typical not only of Slovenia but of all the countries that experienced a radical change in their political system after the fall of the Berlin wall.
